In 1983, Steve Jobs famously envisaged the dawn of mobile apps by announcing “It would be a little like a record store, where software would be downloaded over phone lines.”

Interestingly, many people today are more likely to use their vinyl copy of Pink Floyd’s The Final Cut from 1983 than log in to the language–learning app or free–to–play game they downloaded just last month.
